INTRO: The .17 HMaiR (.172 cal airgun)

I'M BACK!  Been almost a year since I posted last but, I'm hear now and revived.  A few more custom airguns have been created since my last post.  We will play catch up for a few post then become current.  I promise, I will update often catch up.

And up 1st, I would love to introduce you guys to the 17 cal "BEAUTY" I've created.

THOUGHT PROCESS:  With this Air Rifle, my 1st thought before caliber choice was, "I WANTED SOMETHING DIFFERENT".  I thought long and hard and it came down to 2 choices.  A 22 cal slug shooter and a 17 cal slug shooter.  After a few minutes of research, I had my answer, the .17 cal.  Now, when I say .17 cal, I'm not referring to .177 like traditional pellet rifles, I'm talking .172 cal.  Same as the ever popular .17 HMR rimfire round.  During my research, I found a barrel maker and a bullet mold maker so it quickly became a "GO".  The idea was to have the airgun mimic the .17 HMR round but since this rifle is compressed air powered, 2600 fps is out of the question.  Now, as far as cast bullets go, I only had 2 choices.  One weight and style at 26 gr FN and the other at a 32 gr RN.  Since I swear by HP's, the obvious choice was the FN.  As far as the barrel is concerned, the only barrel available that would fit the Benjamin Maurader also has a 1-9" twist much akin to the 17 HMR barrels.  So, again, "GO" it was.

A SLUG COMPARISON (far left):

27-1/2" Barrel with 1-9" twist
